Welcome

Selah House is a place to reclaim freedom from your eating disorder. Set in the peaceful Indiana countryside, our team of professionals offers Christian eating disorder treatment for women and teen girls with a primary diagnosis of anorexia, bulimia, ARFID, OSFED, or other co-occurring disorders.
Our focus at Selah is to address and deal with underlying issues and support long-term recovery so that our clients are able to walk in freedom from eating disorders. We believe the combination of a unique step-down approach and multidisciplinary therapies in a homelike setting are the best path for treatment.

Individualized Treatment

Before entering treatment, our clinical team makes clear recommendations for a length of treatment that are based upon each individual’s specific needs. Our programs offer flexibility, and our treatment plans are always designed to understand each individual’s needs. It is this process that enables us to identify the best type of care suited for your recovery. On average, clients receive a recommended 6-week stay for both adult and teen treatment programs.

Clinically Excellent

The Selah House treatment team utilizes time-tested, evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral and family therapy as well as art and equine therapies in order to contribute to overall healing and transformation. Also, Selah House is accredited at the highest level through CARF International, an independent accreditor of health and human services. CARF accreditation ensures we are providing the highest quality, demonstrating value, and meeting internationally recognized organizational and program standards.

Authentically Christian

Selah House is an authentically Christian program. We offer more than just a “Christian track.” Simply put, we love our clients, and not with just our own love, but with the love of the God. We provide a space for them to be who they really are, not who they have come to believe they are. In this space of unconditional love, a seed of trust is planted. We have been privileged over and over again to watch these seeds take root and grow, transforming women who were once filled with sorrow, shame and self-hate into the strong, healthy and happy women God created them to be.
Women of all faiths have successfully completed our program and felt loved and accepted for who they are. Clients vary in how much they want to focus on faith during their treatment, and we respect each person’s decision.

It all started with a deep sense of calling.

The founders of Selah House were a group of ordinary men and women who shared a deep calling to help women struggling with eating disorders. Many of these professionals were already serving women the best they could. Meeting in coffee shops, churches, anywhere that could serve as a quiet place to listen and support those in need. The need was great and without any real organization, women had no place to find healing.
In early 2006, this group of passionate individuals began gathering and discussing an idea to create a home where women could find true healing and freedom from their eating disorders. Everyone involved had a deep sense of calling to carry out the mission of caring for people and doing it as representatives of Jesus Christ. Selah House was built on the foundation of a dedicated group of ordinary people who were passionate about their work.
In August 2006, Selah House opened their first home, which was an eight-bed facility for adult women. The mission was clear; to deliver the highest possible care in a homelike setting and doing it all in the name of Jesus Christ. Women from around the country began coming and finding freedom. But, there was still a great need for treatment.
In 2011, the same passionate individuals continued to feel the deep calling to serve more than those who needed residential. It was abundantly clear that many women were so sick, they needed an even higher level of care and had very little access to treatment. Once again, Selah knew it needed to intervene.

Selah’s Residential Eating Disorder Treatment Center Indiana Relies On

about Selah House Selah House opened its inpatient level of care in 2011. This allowed Selah to open its doors to an even greater number of women and to offer care in a way that people could access it through participation by insurance companies. Still to this day, Selah House is still the only inpatient facility in Indiana.

In 2013, these passionate individuals once again poured themselves into opening a home for teen girls struggling with eating disorders. This care was consistent with the adult program by providing the highest quality of care, in a homelike setting, all done in the name of Jesus Christ.
Today, Selah House as an organization is still being called upon for help. We see that our clients need a step-down level of care before returning home. So, in 2017 we opened another program that supports recovery by helping our clients transition out of higher levels of care.
While our organization has grown and evolved, the calling has remained the same. We continue to serve our clients with clinically excellent care in a homelike setting that is all done as representatives of Jesus Christ.
