Teen Eating Disorder Treatment:

Adolescent Program at Selah House

Eating disorders affect adolescents and teenagers across the country. However, these problems regularly go unnoticed. With the help of our teen eating disorder treatment at Selah House, your child can regain their health and overall wellness. This adolescent program will help your teen build the foundation for a healthy, bright future.

What is Teen Eating Disorder Treatment?

Teen eating disorder treatment will address specific disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, and other eating and feeding disorders. Moreover, our professional staff will also determine if there are any secondary issues. For example, these may include anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), or self-injury.

In fact, many teenagers who struggle with an eating disorder often face mental health problems. Treating one without the other may lead to relapse after treatment.

How is this possible? These conditions can negatively impact and influence each other. For instance, anxiety or depression may lead your teen to develop an eating disorder. However, the eating disorder may also lead to the development of anxiety or depression.

By treating these root causes of the disorder, we can help your teen grow on a path to better health.

Adolescent Program Benefits at Selah House

At Selah House, our adolescent program will include a variety of benefits. These include:

  • Primary therapist
  • Family therapist
  • Registered dietitian
  • Psychiatrist
  • Physical examination
  • Chaplain for spiritual programming

  • Body image therapist

Each and every person who enters our teen eating disorder treatment program will be assigned their own therapist who works with the client individually and in family settings. Furthermore, you will have access to a psychiatrist and medical providers, if medication can be a helpful tool. The body image therapist helps improve your relationship to your body.

Through equine therapy, your teen will learn to find connection to others by working with horses. Selah House uses the EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) model which utilizes ground activities with the horses to facilitate clients moving forward therapeutically. Often clients make significant progress when equine therapy is part of their treatment plan.
