Anorexia is a psychological disorder which can produce many medical problems. It can be considered a kind of “out-of-control” dieting.
People with bulimia binge uncontrollably on large amounts of food and then purge the calories out of their bodies through vomiting, starving, excessive exercise, laxatives, or other methods.
Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is when someone is preoccupied with a defect in their appearance. This defect is either minor or imagined and causes great distress to the person.
Compulsive exercise is also known as exercise dependence, exercise addiction, obligatory exercise, exercise abuse, and anorexia athletica. Compulsive exercise does not have to signify an eating disorder but the two often accompany each other.
People with OSFED have some but not all of the symptoms of anorexia or bulimia.
